The Namibian Experience:Soulful

04.09.2017 / CHOBE WATER VILLAS - Birgit, November 2016

·What we loved – The beautifully designed, spacious villas, each with private deck and views, invite you to stay longer and are among the best accommodation in the Chobe area for the rate they charge (I didn’t see most of the lodges, and only visited Chobe Safari Lodge, Chobe Bush Lodge, Cresta Mowana and Muchenje Safari Lodge.). Because the lodge is located on the Namibian side, the area on the river where they operate their boat trips is not subject to the restricted park hours of Chobe National Park, which means there is no rush to get back to land by sunset.

·Keep in mind – you still travel and enter via Kasane. There is an access route for 4x4’s from the Namibia, but generally guests would be picked up by boat transfer from Kasane.

·Mmmmh – The lodge is quite big, and has a large entertainment area, so FIT guests may feel a bit lost. It looks like a 100 roomed lodge, but is actually much more intimate with only 16 villages. Because of the transfer back to Kasane and then hop onto a vehicle, they arrive a bit later in Chobe. They intent to leave later for Chobe National Park so it has the advantages of missing the traffic of other safari vehicles, but also means it can mean enduring a game drive when it’s hotter during the day.

·Insider tips – Do the boat cruise, which is more of a leisure trip rather than the boisterous booze cruise that many operators generally offer on the Chobe River.
